To all the fellow BHS graduate families this post is for you! This is such an exciting time of change but also one for reflection. Our daughter turned 18, graduated from a 4 year leadership program, and then graduated a semester early from high school all within 5 weeks in January 2026. We had a lot of change to navigate within a short period of time. On her 18th birthday we spent several days up in Victoria, British Columbia celebrating. We asked her the below questions and it resulted in the most beautiful conversation, one I will never forget. I encourage you to do the same & connect before they are onto their next life chapter.
- What does adulthood mean to you and what are you most excited about?
- What are you most afraid of in the year to come and what can we do to help you overcome this fear?
- What is your greatest strength and what is one thing you are still working one?
- What is one goal you hope to accomplish in the next 5 years?
- What do you want your relationship to look like with us when you are in college? How often to talk on the on the phone? FaceTime? See each other in person? Home for the holidays, etc. (Our daughter will be moving to Australia for university so we are trying to manage our own expectations here!)
- Describe your childhood in 5 words.
- If you were given a free round trip ticket, where in the world would you go?
- What kind of impact do you want to make in the world?
What an incredible privilege it has been to see this beautiful girl grow into who she is today. Congratulations to all of the recent graduates and their families. Here’s to new beginnings with infinite possibilities ahead!
